Afghans and cushions Making an afghan can be a fun way to finish all the leftover yarn you have. The afghan for my daughter Joanne was made from leftover yarn from a cardigan and sweater I knitted for her. The "bits and pieces" afghan was made from yarn from all the sweaters I had knitted in the past couple of years. It was also a good way to try out lots of different blocks.
